Safe migration facilitation centre in Srikakulam

April 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A ‘Safe Migration Facilitation Centre’ has been set up in the Srikakulam district Collectorate, to track the migrants to other States, and ensure their safety from human trafficking. The step was taken after the ‘Caravan Swaraksha’ visited the district and held awareness events, shared founder of the NGO Prajwala which spearheaded the campaign.

The centre will track migrants and register their details, where they are headed, and for what kind of employment. A whistleblower educated by Caravan Swaraksha has recently spotted eight girls being trafficked from Khorda of Orissa and alerted the police, she said.
