The State government has sanctioned ₹1.69 crore for depositing it with the Railways for taking up construction of a Rail Under Bridge (RUB) at Masaipet village in Yeldurthy mandal of Medak district, where over 20 students were killed when a passenger train rammed a school bus crossing the railway track at the unmanned level crossing in July 2014.
The Engineer-in-Chief of Panchayat Raj Department had submitted a proposal in June last year, based on a representation given by the Sarpanch of Masaipet and vetted by the mandal and division-level engineers of the department, for construction of the RUB by the Railways to enable the villagers to cross the railway track passing by the village.
According to the officials, the Railway engineers have inspected and surveyed the area and the railway station as well as NH 44 and furnished a report stating that construction of RUB at Masaipet was technically feasible at two points. Further, the Railway engineers had stated in the report that the cost of it would be about ₹1.69 crore and that the Railways could take up the RUB construction with the State government funds deposited with the Railways in advance.
