The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is planning to deploy 4,000 buses for the ensuing Medaram Jatara to be held in January next.
TSRTC Managing Director G.V. Ramana Rao said they would set a record by operating more buses while keeping 450 buses for emergency services as well.
After holding a review meeting for the jatara preparedness here on Friday, he told the newsmen that this was the biggest exercise taken up by the Corporation. During the main days of the jatara, the RTC would transport nearly 2.61 lakh people in a single day by having 3,300 trips. Per hour, 11,000 passengers would be transported with a frequency of 450 buses an hour. “This is a record-breaking feat,” he pointed out.
The government has allocated ₹2.45 crore towards making the arrangements for the jatara. A detailed action plan was being drawn for the purpose. The RTC expects to serve about 44 lakh devotees. This year, an additional route has been added to connect to Sironcha. There would be a total of 23 routes connecting all the districts in the State.
A network of CCTV cameras would be installed at temporary RTC bus stands coming up at Medaram village along with a control room to monitor the bus movements and passenger traffic, Mr. Ramana Rao said.
During the jatara, air-conditioned bus services would be offered from Warangal and Hyderabad. The devotees have to book their tickets in advance. Hire service would also be offered if the devotees want to hire the buses to travel to Medaram in groups.
