After a lull in passenger traffic due to the ongoing Samaikyandhra agitations, Mahatma Gandhi Bus station (MGBS) on Sunday witnessed considerable increase in passenger traffic with many corporate employees boarding buses towards Bangalore, Chennai and Pune after Ramzan and extended weekend holidays.

RTC authorities claimed to have operated over 25 special buses in addition to the 45 regular buses operated on the Hyderabad-Bangalore route. Likewise, they said one additional bus was added on the Hyderabad-Chennai and Hyderabad-Mumbai route following the demand.

With most employees returning to their work places after extended weekend holidays, seat occupancy ratio (OR) increased drastically on Sunday in inter-State buses, said a senior official.

Meanwhile, operations towards Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions continue to be affected following Samaikyandhra agitations at different places. Except for buses till Kurnool in Rayalaseema region and till Vijayawada in coastal Andhra region from the State capital, majority of services in Seemandhra regions remained confined to depots, he said.
