RTC bus knocks down schoolgirl

An eight-year-old girl on her way to school to attend Independence Day celebrations was killed when an RTC bus hit her on the I.S. Sadan-Champapet road in Saidabad on Monday.

Kavya, a third standard student of MH Gupta School in D.S. Nagar of Saidabad was walking across the road when the bus of Ibrahimpatnam depot hit her, the Saidabad Sub-Inspector, N.S. Ashok Kumar, said.

Death was instant for her as she suffered bleeding wounds on the head.

The girl's family used to live at the VAMBAY Complex at Singareni Colony.

She, along with parents, came to her paternal grandparents house at D.S. Nagar as Bonalu festival was celebrated there.

“The girl started for school, which was close by, alone on foot around 8 a.m. and was crossing the road near the Muthyalamma temple when the accident occurred,” the SI said.

The bus driver, Malla Reddy, was taken into custody. A case of rash and negligent act resulting in death was registered against him.
