The Mahankali police on Monday caught a jeweller’s employee, Eknath, and four of his associates, and recovered Rs. 1.30 crore worth diamond studded jewellery which they had taken away 10 days ago.

After disappearing with the jewellery near Paradise hotel in Secunderabad, Eknath, tried to cook up an abduction story by lodging a complaint with the Chegunta police in Medak district, North Zone DCP Ch. Srikanth said.

However, the Mahankali police analysed his mobile phone calls and tracked him. The theft was masterminded by his associate M. Uttam, who too worked with the same jeweller earlier but was sacked on charge of resorting to malpractices.
