The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group will invest ₹200 crore in Telangana in the packaged food business, according to an official release on the meeting of Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao and the group chairman Sanjiv Goenka in Kolkata on Monday. The group will set up a facility at Toopran in Siddipet district, on over 20 acres to manufacture products under their Too yum and e-vita brands.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Minister and Goenka group representative. The RPSG group and Telangana also agreed to build backward linkages to farmers and work towards establishing a local vendor base. The proposed facility would employ about 1,000 people.
Mr. Rao, who also met several other business leaders and investors in Kolkata, highlighted the investment opportunities in the State as well the Government’s policies. The investors evinced interest and responded positively in investing in Telangana, the release said.
In discussions with the SREI Infrastructure Finance Company chairman Hemant Kanoria, the Minister urged the SREI to support the proposed industrial and food parks in Telangana. Mr. Rao also addressed a group of industrialists under the aegis of industry body CII and invited them to invest in the State, the release said.
