Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has advised the teachers to seek transfers only through counselling.
The government considered the requests directly only in special cases. But it would be better for teachers to seek transfers only through counselling, he said.
Mr. Rosaiah, who was the chief guest at the 29th State Council conference of Progressive Recognised Teachers' Union A.P. (PRTU AP) here on Saturday, called upon the teachers to dedicate themselves to their noble profession and the government would examine their demands positively.
Responding to the memorandum of demands submitted by the PRTU leaders P. Venkat Reddy, K. Manohar Rao, the Chief Minister said “This is your government and your welfare is our concern.”
The PRTU sought weightage increments to senior teachers under Ninth PRC scales, sanction of notional increments to special teachers, vidya volunteers, SC/ST teachers who worked on a meagre wage of Rs.398, sanction of language pundit and physical education teacher posts in SUCCESS schools and sanction of health cards among other things.
Emphasising the role of teachers Mr. Rosaiah said the government conceded most of the PRC recommendations. Even other issues could be resolved through negotiations.
Apprenticeship system
Earlier, PRTU leader Mohan Reddy urged the Chief Minister to abolish apprenticeship system for teachers without further delay.
On behalf of PTRU, he presented a gold ring and silver pen to Mr. Rosaiah.
