Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, Shirdi, opened its information centre, the first one to be opened outside the abode of Shirdi Saibaba, here on Monday. Chief Minister K. Rosaiah inaugurated the centre by performing ‘puja' to a portrait of Saibaba and unveiling a plaque. The Chief Minister said the flow of devotees to Shirdi from the State was very high and an information centre was very much needed for knowing about stay facilities, darshan and other details. There was a proposal from some sections to take over Saibaba temples by the Endowments Departments, when Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister, as the institutions had huge assets and income.
However, he had suggested against such a move stating that the temples were built with the donations of devotees, Mr. Rosaiah said.
The information centre would provide information on all activities of Saibaba Sansthan and make available all publications of the trust to the devotees of Saibaba, Chairman of the trust Jayant Sasane said. It would be a ‘darshanik' centre to those planning to visit Shirdi and offer prayers.
Two devotees S. Radhaswamy and S. Premalatha donated 3,200 sft space for the information centre in Deepthi House of YMCA Complex in Secunderabad. Maharashtra Minister for Transport Radhakrishna Patil, all members and officials of the trust and city Mayor B. Karthika Reddy were present.
