The celebrity news anchor has made waves over the years, thanks to her presentation skills and good looks
Among news anchors, she occupies a place of envy. Years after she took to being in front of the camera, INews’ Roja is still the one to watch out for. “Television happened by chance and not by choice. I just picked up, worked my way up,” she recalls.
The teacher from Khammam quit her profession when the chance for a career in television came by. She was visiting her sister at a channel studio when she was spotted.
After a brief stint with TV5, Roja moved to INews and has since made rapid strides, winning several best newsreader awards. She spent considerable time preparing for the camera and adding presentation skills to her good looks.
How is she coping with her increasing fan following?
Recently, a person, who claimed to smitten by her, drove down from Tenali on a bike. “The man left a big letter with details about his income, his land and other details and also a lengthy essay on why he wants to marry me. He later accosted, kept proposing and pestering me. His obsessive behaviour did worry me,” Roja recalls. “I summoned colleagues and managed to send him away but not before he left me unnerved,” she says.
The silver screen does keep beckoning her and movie offers come at regular intervals. “There is no way I can consider big screen options. TV has become my passion and there is a lot more for me to do on the small screen,” affirms Roja.
Such is the popularity of the celebrity anchor that she is the most-searched Telugu anchor on the Internet. In fact, there are two Facebook accounts and a blog in her name. “They are fake accounts in my name and I am planning to register a case with the Cybercrime Department,” she says.
