There has been an inordinate delay in acquiring government properties between Chandrayangutta and ‘Pilli Dargah’

Road-widening works within the old city are not without hitches. And many a time, it is either the politicians or the people who are blamed for any delay. The delay in completing road-widening works is on part of the government.

The existing narrow stretch of road between Chandrayangutta and ‘Pilli Dargah’ on the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport stretch is being widened to about 80-feet. Though most of the private properties were demolished and the road was widened, the delay in handing over the government properties had slowed down the work.

A total of 130 properties were identified for demolition as part of the road-widening work. The authorities could demolish 103 properties in the last one year.

The CRPF campus on the stretch is one of the biggest properties to be acquired for the works.

Likewise, the BSNL office has also proved to be another hiccup in the exercise. There is a delay on the part of the telecom company to hand over the property for road widening works, it is said.
