September 12, 2013 12:32 am | Updated November 16, 2021 11:38 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A businessman driving a Tata Safari fired at a motorcyclist with a dummy pistol after an altercation over rash driving at Jahanuma Lancer in Falaknuma on Wednesday.

Irfan was detained and the dummy pistol seized while the motorcyclist Kareemullah, who suffered an abrasion below his left ear, was admitted to a hospital. Tension prevailed in the locality as locals believed that Irfan fired at the motorcyclist with a firearm.

“Irfan and Kareem picked up an argument accusing each another of careless driving,” South zone DCP Tarun Joshi said. In the fit of rage, Irfan whipped out the dummy pistol and fired two rounds in the air.

He later aimed the pistol at the bike rider and fired. The dummy bullet grazed past Karee causing a minor injury to his ear. While passers-by shifted the motorcyclist to hospital, police rushed to the spot and found a cartridge at the spot. “It had a rubber head in the front. A ballistic expert has confirmed it as a blank bullet,” the DCP said. The dummy pistol was company-made.
