The government is looking at improving road network throughout the State linking the villages to mandals, mandals to districts and to the capital are afoot. “Hyderabad is centrally located, so we can provide good connectivity within an hour or two to many areas,” said its advisor Papa Rao here on Wednesday.

Addressing a conference on ‘Urbanisation of Telangana – Unlocking the potential’ organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry – TS & AP or FICCI, he said While the Outer Ring Road (ORR) was completed, Regional Ring Roads are being taken up. Flyovers too are necessary at a few places, he observed and wanted the industry to respond to “unwarranted criticism” by certain sections of media, voluntary agencies and others on such projects. National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) was approached to take up road development from Vidarbha all along the Godavari river towards Telangana and onward to A.P. to unlock the urban potential. Two more water reservoirs outside ORR of 50 TMC capacity, sewer links wherever Mission Bhagiratha works are on and revitalising slums are other infra works on the anvil. FICCI Chairperson Devendra Surana and Convenor Vijay Sarathi also spoke.
