Rishisteswari suicide probe report to be submitted soon

The report of the inquiry into suicide of the first year architecture student, M. Rishiteswari of the Acharya Nagarjuna University, will be submitted after August 6.

Talking to The Hindu , S. Balasubramanyam, retired IAS officer and chairman of the high-level committee which is probing the incident, said that 90 per cent of the work relating to the inquiry is completed. With the university set to reopen on August 5, after a 10-day holiday, the members of the committee would interact with students who wish to depose before it on August 6. The government initially set a five-day deadline for submitting the report of the committee, which was appointed on July 27. On Saturday, the time for submission was extended till August 10. Mr. Subramanyam met HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao here on Sunday and briefed him on the progress of the enquiry.
