GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL), which operates the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), has been awarded gold in the five-15 million passengers per annum category as part of ‘ACI Asia-Pacific Green Airports Recognition 2018’.

GHIAL CEO S.G.K. Kishore received the award during the Green Airports Recognition Ceremony 2018 on Tuesday at the Airports Council International’s (ACI) Asia Pacific Regional Assembly in Narita, Japan. The evaluation was carried out among 19 eligible submissions.

The review panel praised the airport’s project on ‘Innovation and Technology in Waste Minimisation’. The airport has a captive composting plant for processing food waste and organic manure used in maintaining the sprawling green cover.
