In a span of 90 days, Col. (retd.) M. A. Kaleem will traverse 35,000 kilometres on his motorcycle, journeying to several of the country’s major cities.
The 68-year-old avid motorcyclist’s solo ride was flagged-off by Joint Transport Commissioner and Secretary of RTA Hyderabad T. Raghunath from the Khairatabad RTA on Wednesday.
“I am dedicating this journey to protecting the environment. I also want everybody in the country to pledge to protect environment and drive safety while on the road,” said a statement from the retired Colonel, who planted a sapling at the Khairatabad RTA before the ride was flagged off.
During the course of the journey, Col. Kaleem will travel to Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Mangalore, Panaji, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Agra, Gwalior, Siliguri, Calcutta, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore and Guwahati.
A veteran motorcyclist, Col. Kaleem has done innumerable solo rides, including a trip from the city to Kashmir and back last year. The flagging-off ceremony was also attended by biking enthusiasts from portal xBHP.
The Colonel’s journey will be tracked online in real time by a group of biker enthusiasts including H.V. Kumar, through special online forums in xBHP and GPS device software provided by MapMyIndia.
