Restaurants seized for running hookah centre illegally

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials on Friday seized ‘Oyster Lounge’ and ‘Happy Hyderabad Times Café’ situated at Jubilee Hills Check Post as a hookah centre was found to be running in the guise of a coffee centre and without trade license and other related certificates.

According to a press release issued here, the GHMC inspection team found that the kitchen as well as the surroundings in unhygienic conditions and a show cause closure notice was issued and necessary action would be initiated.

Trade license

The GHMC which has restructured the trade license which would be fixed based on the plinth area has asked the traders to obtain the license by making payment online and informed that time has been extended till July 31 to apply for fresh license. Officials told to acquire properties for metro rail

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, on Friday directed the officials to acquire properties on priority through land acquisition process for road widening where metro rail works were in progress. During an inspection on Friday, he wanted one staffer each from HMR and GHMC to be deputed for looking after the cleaning of the road on the metro rail sites.

Noticing reinforcement of steel rods on a property along the road margin that obstructed free flow of traffic at Punjagutta, Mr. Somesh Kumar ordered immediate seizing of the property and also imposition of a fine of Rs.1 lakh and stopping the construction work there.

The joint inspection team which included N.V.S.Reddy, HMR Managing Director, Jithender, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and others decided to expedite the viaduct works at Sanjeev Reddy Nagar portals by augmenting additional resources by L&T people, acquisition of open space at Aditya complex as per Master Plan and also all properties on the left side of the Metro corridor after Ameerpet interchange and till Chowdhary Mansion.

The property acquisition on left side before Punjagutta flyover would be taken up immediately by the GHMC and demarcation of properties for demolition from Ameerpet to Punjagutta would be carried out by tomorrow, according to a press release.
