Residents of Allwyn Colony and Dharani Nagar in Kukatpally had a horrid time on Saturday as huge mounds of foam caused by overflowing of a tank that was contaminated with industrial waste entered houses due to overnight rain.

The inmates did not stir out of the houses for several hours as the entire area was covered with foam as a result of chemicals from the tank at Dharani Nagar finding way out due to flooding.

The visibly scared people, comprising mainly women, blamed elected representatives for turning blind eye to the problem though it regularly occurred for the last three years.

They claimed that the government allotted ₹ 5 crore to resolve the problem but nothing was done.
