A research scholar of University of Hyderabad, Vishal Tondon, leapt to his death from the 14th floor of the apartment he lived in at Chandanagar here on Saturday, the police said.

Forty-three-year-old Tondon had sent an email to his sister, Githika, living in Mumbai before ending his life. A worried Ms. Githika asked Pradeep, who lives in another flat of the building, to check if her brother was fine. “By the time Pradeep went to Tondon’s flat, he had jumped from 14th floor of the building,” Chandanagar Inspector N. Tirupathi Rao said. Exact reason for the suicide was yet to be ascertained, but contents of the email he had sent to his sister suggested that he was upset over his career, the investigators said.
