Police Commemoration Day 2014 is an occasion to remember the valiant police personnel, who gave their lives defending the peace and security of people in society. The Telangana Police in Hyderabad gave a sense of might to the people and young students at Gymkhana Grounds on Monday by demonstrating use of several weapons and tools they regularly use. The Police explained to children about different types of weapons, water cannon and tear gas shells during an Open House programme. Hyderabad Commissioner of Police M Mahendar Reddy had a look at different weapons. The Hindu photographer Nagara Gopal captured a few glimpses of the demonstration.
Deepavali is synonymous with lights, but this year the city residents have a wide range of earthen diayas to choose from. This is keeping the potters in and around the city busy in their workshops. Hundreds of colourful options are available to celebrate the festival of lights. From mundane brown earthenware diyas, to designer pottery, painted pots of all sizes to sit on one another as decorative pieces. The Hindu photographers G. Ramakrishna and Satyanarayana Gola captured the activity.
