August 19, 2013 10:19 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 10:16 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Lavanya, 23, the wife of a Home Guard, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house at Karmikanagar in Yousufguda on Sunday night even as her relatives allege that her husband, Shankarappa, killed her for additional dowry.

Lavanya’s parents – Venkatappa and Narayanamma – said she called them on Sunday morning complaining that Shankarappa was harassing her every day for additional dowry. In the evening, Shankarappa called Lavanya’s parents stating that she was admitted to a private hospital.

When the relatives came to her house, they found Lavanya hanging to the ceiling fan, police said. While the Home Guard claimed he was not at home since Sunday afternoon, Lavanya’s relatives alleged that he killed her for failing to bring more dowry.
