Registrations of participants for Hackadrone 2018, India's first UAV hackathon, have opened.
It is open to developers, start-ups, tech students and independent software programmers aspiring to develop innovative commercial and industrial solutions using the latest drone technology, IT firm Cyient, which in association with DJI is organising the event, said in a release. Microsoft and Telangana government are also associated with the country's first UAV hackathon.
The final entries will be selected by January 25, while the grand finale is scheduled from February 5-9 in Hyderabad. Cash rewards await the winning teams. There is also a special award for teams with only women members, as a measure to encourage and support women in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education.
The participating teams would compete to develop original software applications on the DJI industrial drone platform using DJI’s software development kit (SDK). The industry options include utilities, telecommunications, energy and natural resources, smart cities, navigation, security, transportation, and agriculture. Cyient will provide the necessary support required including the drone platforms, mentoring and expert help.
