A host of measures aimed at simplifying the process and expediting clearances has been initiated by the Jharkhand government to attract investments.

A single application form, as opposed to submission of multiple forms in the past, encouraging self-certification by the project proponents and issue of clearances within 15 days figure in the list, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das and members of an official delegation he is leading to Hyderabad said. The team held discussion with trade and industry representatives in the city on Wednesday, as part of a road show for the Global Investors Summit the State will be hosting in Ranchi on February 15 and 16, 2017.

Later, addressing presspersons, Mr. Das declared that Jharkhand has rolled red carpet for investors. Agriculture, industries, information technology sector and tourism were sought to be developed, he said. Jharkhand was also in the process of coming with an IT policy. Towards this, the government had held discussions with IT companies in Bengaluru.

Nodal officers

Highlighting the industry friendly measures, he said nodal officers had been appointed to monitor the progress of industrial projects. “I directly review the progress of projects entailing investments of over Rs. 100 crore,” he added.

The focus was on promoting small and medium enterprises since the number of jobs they created were relatively more, he said, adding the State was rich in natural resources, had good infrastructure and sought supply power on a 24/7 basis.

Allaying apprehensions about the law and order situation, the Chief Minister said the aim is to develop Jharkhand on a par with Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh. On the investment targets sought to be achieved, he replied: “No amount, no count”. The emphasis, he said, was not on signing MoUs, but to achieve overall development.
