Recruitment process to be speeded up as clarity emerges

The recruitment process for vacant posts in different departments is likely to gather pace in the coming days.

The State Government is understood to have decided to conduct the recruitments on the basis of 10 districts rather than taking into consideration 21 newly created districts. The decision, according to sources, was taken as the Presidential Orders are still operational in the State as the Central Government is yet to act on the State Cabinet’s request to scrap them consequent on the formation of Telangana State.

The Finance Department had given its go ahead for more than 49,500 posts in 22 departments with Home Department securing 12,350 posts, School Education Department 9,200 posts and, Revenue little over 3,400 posts topping the list. The government had so far completed recruitment process for close to 16,000 posts, the Police taking a lion’s share of over 10,000 posts.

District issues

The recruitment process had been progressing at a slow pace as there was no clarity on whether to adopt the old districts or evolve methodology for taking up appointments on the basis of new districts.

According to senior officials, absence of coordination between different departments and the Telangana State Public Service Commission was also said to be one of the reasons for delay in the recruitments. Delay in finalisation of staff pattern was said to be a major impediment in taking forward the recruitments.

Taking cognisance of the delays, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, after reviewing the situation at a high-level meeting, instructed Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari to follow up the process on a regular basis to ensure that the government’s promises are implemented without delays and legal complications. The committee had asked the departments concerned to submit their staff pattern so that the requirements at different levels could be finalised after which it could focus on other parameters like rule of reservation, qualifications and the implementation of the Presidential Orders.

The Advocate General as well as the Law departments had been asked to furnish their views on these aspects to preempt ensure that there are no legal complications. in conducting recruitments.
