Three years of rule: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and Telangana State BJP president K. Laxman at Modi Fest at Bagh Lingampally in Hyderabad on Friday.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said he was ready to sign a memorandum of understanding with Telangana soon for cultural and educational exchange of ideas and also for tourism.

Speaking at ‘Modi Fest’ launched at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College at Bagh Lingampally here on Friday, he said Telugu courses would also be started in Harayana.

Mr. Khattar said Prime Minister Narendera Modi’s leadership came at a time when the country was despondent owing to scams and scandals. The Prime Minister was trying to bring about a transformation in governance and administration with a novel approach without a whiff of corruption.

Similarly, he was trying to revive the age-old practises in sanitation by propagating the Swachh Bharat programme. His own government had already put in place e-governance practises in land registration, opening mini-secretariats in villages, strictly implementing the PNDT Act thereby ensuring rise in sex ratio and zero tolerance to corruption.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya said ‘Bangaru Telangana’ would be possible only with the help of BJP-led NDA government that has liberally been giving grants and substantial financial assistance to several schemes and programmes being taken up in the State.

“There is so much talk about what the Centre has given to Telangana. I have figures to prove it has given huge amounts. We are ready to do much more if the government here comes forward. Our critics can level allegations, but cannot question our government’s integrity,” he affirmed.

Reeling out figures, he said the Centre through the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has given ₹30,000 crore towards supplying power round the clock, ₹9000 crore under the UDAY scheme for strengthening power distribution, ₹1,476 crore for cutting transmission and other losses, ₹1,200 crore for energy efficiencies, ₹6,100 crore under various other schemes.

It was also ready to establish a 100-bed hospital at Goshamahal if the State government provides land.

The Centre was also open to having a 2,000 MW solar plant on the Osmania University campus and overall help to support 10,000 MW, but the Telangana government gave consent for only 5,000 MW.

The ₹1,800 crore ESIC College was being administered by the department since the government was reluctant to run it and now a 500-bed hospital was coming up at Sanatnagar.

Earlier, BJP TS president K. Laxman said ‘Modi Fest’ was being conducted at 600 places across the country to present the report card after three years of BJP rule and make citizens aware of the schemes initiated for their welfare. BJP floor leader G. Kishan Reddy also spoke.
