A rare and exquisite gold jewellery worn by ancient rulers was recovered during the digging of contour trenches along the foothills of Ranamkota at Sirivancha Kota village in Buggaram mandal on Wednesday.

Reports reaching here said farm labourers engaged in the NREGS work were digging the contour trenches when they found the gold ornaments in a mud pot. Soon, they informed the revenue and police officials about the same.

After conducting inquest, the revenue officials recovered the ornaments and shifted them to the Collectorate.

It was later handed over to the Archaeological Department.
