The rising prices of essential commodities which were hitting the people hard were noted by Swarna Latha, the oracle of Ujjaini Mahankali on Monday. She also prophesied that the citizens “need not worry as their problems will be addressed.”

Sooth saying during ‘Rangam', an event conducted on the concluding day of two-day annual Bonalu festival at the temple in Secunderabad, she said the Rain God will bless the State with sufficient rains which could bring in bountiful harvest. However, she was very angry with the politicians.

“Politicians have become selfish. They are busy only in amassing wealth and ignoring social responsibility. They will not be spared and action will be initiated against them at an appropriate time,” she thundered. Referring to viral fevers, Latha cited unhygienic conditions as the reason for the diseases spreading yet Hyderabadis need not worry much about such diseases.

Thousands of devotees thronged the temple to listen to the ‘Rangam' which is popular in Telangana. A colourful procession with the photo of Goddess Mahankali was taken out later on a caparisoned elephant in the surrounding localities of the temple.

Number of devotees coming to the temple kept increasing throughout the day and in the evening ‘Phalaharam bandi' processions were organised.
