Pledging support to the global campaign on climate change, WWF-India’s Earth Hour 2014, is popular Tollywood actor Ram Charan Tej. On Friday, the actor spoke about the cause and invited the public to take active part in the initiative.

This year Earth Hour will be held on March 29 from 8.30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. wherein those supporting the cause will have to switch off the non-essential light for that hour.

“We, as individuals, must unite to spread awareness about alternate lifestyles so that the natural resources of our planet are not further depleted. I am therefore, extending my support for Earth Hour and am honoured to be part of such an important cause,” said Mr. Charan.

The campaign, which began in 2009 in India, is aimed at encouraging individuals and organisations to adopt renewable energy solutions and governments to promote policies favourable to the production and uptake of renewable production processes.

Ravi Singh, Secretary General & CEO, WWF-India said that the campaign was helping in uniting all those who are concerned about the environment.
