Rakshak vehicle crushes man to death

A security guard was killed after a speeding Rakshak vehicle rammed him when he tried to squeeze through a gap in the road median at Basheerbagh on Sunday afternoon.

The victim, K. Narasimhulu (45), hailing from Makthamasanpally village of Gajwel in Medak district, was trying to cross the road in front of the Nizam College hostel on his bicycle when the Rakshak vehicle of Begum Bazaar police station hit him resulting in grievous injuries.

With the help of police, Congress activists who came to attend the party meeting at Nizam College Grounds, rushed him to Osmania General Hospital where he died in the evening while undergoing treatment. The area was swarming with police vehicles from different police stations because of the Telangana Congress leaders’ meeting at Nizam College grounds on Sunday.

Police have admitted that constable Mahesh was driving the vehicle at a high speed when the mishap occurred. A case under Section 304A of IPC (causing death by negligence) was registered and the constable arrested.

Two youngsters killed in accident

A joyride turned tragic for two youngsters from Kishanbagh when a lorry hit the bike they were travelling at Tadban under Bahadurpura police station limits on Sunday.

The duo, identified as Mohd Aslam, 18, a salesman, and Shaik Yaser, 12, a fifth class student, took permission from Aslam’s uncle and took his bike. They then were going towards Aramgarh main road, for a joyride. Soon after reaching Tadban, a speeding lorry hit him from behind at Tadban, resulting in grievous injuries. Death was instant for them, police said.

The lorry driver managed to escape from the spot after the locals thrashed him. Police registered a case against the driver and launched a hunt to trace him with the help of lorry registration number.
