Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s vision and dynamic leadership gave new direction to the country towards integrated development in rural areas, said Leader of Opposition in the Council Md. Ali Shabbir.
He was participating in an Anti-Terrorism Day programme held on the occasion of the 26th death anniversary of Mr. Gandhi.
Mr. Shabbir said Mr. Gandhi, as the Prime Minister, was instrumental in ensuring the voting age was 18 years and also directly releasing funds to the panchayat raj bodies.
Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao and other leaders paid rich tributes to the leader by garlanding his statue at Somajiguda.
At the Congress party headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, leaders offered floral tributes to the portrait of the former Prime Minister.
