Rainfall activity across Telangana is likely to improve by end of the week with the strengthening of monsoon flow and formation of low level circulation over Bay of Bengal. The prevailing westerly to northwesterly winds could cause light to moderate rain/thundershowers at isolated places.

In the absence of active pre-monsoon rainfall activity, the maximum temperatures are very likely to be 41°C to 43°C over parts of north and eastern parts and between 38°C to 41°C over remaining parts of the State, a forecast by the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) of the Planning Department said.

Model

It is based on the Weather Model run at the TSDPS and other available numerical guidance from National Centers (IMD and other centers).

Due to the strong westerly to northwesterly moist winds from Arabian Sea during the first half of the week, moderate to heavy rain/thundershowers occurred at many places over Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Suryapet on 27th May and over Rangareddy, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Warangal (R), Jayashankar-Bhupalpally and neighborhood on 28th May.

Rainfall

Highest rainfall of 105mm recorded at Gangaram (Khammam) on 27th May during the week. Heat wave conditions abated from most parts of the State from 28th May onwards where the maximum temperatures are in the range of 41°C to 43°C over eastern parts and the remaining parts is recorded in the range of 38°C to 41°C. Highest maximum temperatures of 45°C recorded at Aithipamula (Nalgonda) on 26th May and at Peddur (Rajanna-Sircilla) on 27th May during the week.
