North, eastern parts to experience heatwave conditions

Light rain/thundershowers are expected at isolated places over southern parts of Telangana during the next one week. Present heatwave conditions are likely to continue over north and eastern parts where the average maximum temperatures were likely to be above normal by 3° C to 5° C for a few days during the week.

The forecast is based on the weather model run at TS Development Planning Society of Planning Department and other available numerical guidance from National Centres (IMD and other centres).

It indicates that the prevailing north-south oriented trough passing along coastal Andhra Pradesh along with westerly to north-westerly winds over Telangana will result in showers.

Temperatures will be in the range of 43° C to 46° C over north and eastern parts of the State and the remaining parts is excepted to be in the range of 39° C to 43° C, while the minimum temperature were likely to be above normal by 3° C to 4° C which will be in the range of 28° C to 32° C during the week.

Last week, light rain/thundershowers occurred at isolated places over Suryapet, Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem and environs. Highest rainfall of 19 mm was recorded at Khammam Rural (Khammam) on May 24.

Heatwave conditions prevailed at a few places over Komarambheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalle, Karimnagar, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Jayashankar-Bhupalpally, Bhadradri- Kothagudem, Nalgonda districts on three to four days during the week.

In addition to maximum temperatures, the minimum temperatures also have shown increasing trend by 3° C to 4° C above normal reaching up to 32°C over many parts of the State during the week making warm night conditions. Highest maximum temperatures of 46.9° C was recorded at Mullur (Jayashankar-Bhupalpally) on May 21.
