Railway Board Chairman Ashwini Lohani called upon the officers to adopt a human resources centric approach and simplify work processes where stakeholders are considered as partners to take the organisation forward. Women workforce should be given all the necessary facilities even as utmost priority is given to safety, punctuality and mobilty.

At a meeting with senior officers at the Rail Nilayam on Wednesday, he said SCR integrates the best work practices of the North and the South of India, owing to its own central location on the Indian Railway map. He was appreciative of the workmanship and cleanliness being maintained when he inspected the Secunderabad Railway Station and Lalaguda Carriage Workshop.

Incidentally, Mr. Lohani had earlier worked at the workshop three decades ago and he was told about the modernisation underway. SCR General Manager V.K.Yadav made a power point presentation on SCR’s performance and achievements. Later, the Chairman also received the IGBC – Green Existing Building Gold Rating by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) from C. Shekar Reddy, chairman, IGBC, Hyderabad chapter, for the Rail Nilayam building.

Built in 1969 over an area of 8.71 acres, it has a built up area of 36,797 Sq. meters extending over four blocks housing 2,650 employees. It also has 250 trees.

It got the award for undertaking various water saving measures, waste management, energy saving and generation and water conservation, among others, a press release said.
