The Department of Archaeology and Museums has said that the Qutub Shahi Tombs compound wall will be restored and security measures beefed up at the historic monument.

Responding to a news report Qutub Shahi Tombs hit a bad patch published in these columns on Monday, the department said the gate towards Gulshan Colony providing access to Masjid-e-Abdulla Qutub Shahi was constructed a long time ago. The department had also lodged a complaint with the Golconda police. The case was still under investigation. Once the investigation was complete, the compound wall would be restored, the department said.

Security measures

Regarding security measures, the department claimed that already one hand held metal detector was being used at the second gate.

There are plans to purchase baggage scanners, door frame metal detectors and surveillance cameras.
