Protest rally taken out against strict rules in EFLU

November 20, 2014 01:07 am | Updated 01:07 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Criticising the stringent steps taken by Eflu management in the aftermath of a gang rape incident, the civil society activists of various organisations as well as students jointly staged a protest rally on Wednesday in Osmania University campus.

Coming together under the aegis of Forum for Democratic Rights in Eflu, they raised slogans and distributed pamphlets during the rally.

Speakers said that taking extreme steps inside the campus was only going to worsen the atmosphere. They felt that more focus should be on gender sensitisation initiatives besides, setting up grievance committees.

They also strongly objected to the increased surveillance inside the campus and banning of all kinds of cultural activities inside the Eflu campus after the incident.

Kaki Madhav Rao, former chief secretary pointed out that focus should be on getting justice to the victim by initiating sensible steps and measures.

Prof. Kodandram, Aam Aadmi Partiy leader P.L. Vishweshwar Rao and social activist Rama Melkote were present.
