The Commissioner’s Task Force (East) team on Thursday busted a prostitution racket being run allegedly by Bangladeshi nationals staying illegally in the city. Seven Bangladeshi women, who were forced into prostitution, were rescued while four organisers, including a woman, were caught by the police.
The prime accused, Abdul Shaik (38), of Jasoor district in Bangladesh and staying at New Nallakunta and his wife Anjumara alias Poonam (25), along with a businessman Burhan (60), also from Bangladesh, brought the victims to India on the pretext of arranging jobs for them in garment industry, the police said. One of their associates, Mafijur Biswas (65) is absconding.
Additional DCP (Task Force) N. Koti Reddy said that Abdul Shaik used to pay Rs. 15,000- 20,000 to Burhan for bringing women to the city. “Burhan along with the victims illegally crossed over to India. He promised them employment in garment industry but forced them into prostitution,” Mr. Reddy said. Mafijur and Zain-ul-abdin were assisting Abdul Shaik, he added. The arrested persons were handed over to Amberpet police.
