The Telangana State Council of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has demanded that the government order a comprehensive inquiry into the murder of A. Naresh as well as that of ‘suicide’ by Swathi in Yadadri-Bhongir district.

Secretary of the party Chada Venkat Reddy said in a statement on Sunday that the probe should also look into the role of police in the entire episode since the murder of Naresh would not have seen the light of the day without the intervention by the court. The need for probe is all the more important following reports that Swathi's father Srinivas Reddy, the main accused in the Naresh murder case, has criminal record.

After the revelation that Naresh was murdered, suspicion on Swathi’s ‘suicide’ is also gaining ground and only a fair and proper probe will bring out the facts in the whole matter, the CPI leader said. Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family members of Naresh, he said such incidents are on the rise in the State in the recent past and wanted the government to act tough against those responsible.
