Proactive research suggested for reducing medicare cost

Principal Secretary, Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Suresh Chanda, on Friday said that the expenditure incurred nowadays by the public on medicare was unacceptable and it is up to the healthcare professionals to make it affordable. While inaugurating the breast and robotic surgery workshop at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), the Principal Secretary said that the only way for effective healthcare was to do research and evolve strategies to help patients, a statement said.

The surgical workshop, aimed at educating surgical trainees, general surgeons and surgical specialists on new developments, will feature 10 to 15 live breast and robotic surgeries at HICC till December 30. The breast surgery workshop will be held by president-elect, Association of Breast Surgeons of India (ABSI), Dr. P. Raghu Ram.
