Premature baby gets a new lease of life

April 19, 2013 12:59 am | Updated 12:59 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A team of doctors at Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, gave a new lease of life to a premature six-and-a-half-month-old baby.

At the time of birth the baby was 26 weeks old and weighed just 550 grams with bleak survival chances as it was diagnosed with respiratory problems.

Gynaecologist V. Padmini and paediatrician and neonatologist T.P. Karthik had to ‘in-tubate’ him for sometime.

The condition of the boy improved significantly after being put on ventilator support for six weeks.

Now, he weights one-and-a-half kilograms, a press release added.
