Investigation into the death of school teacher Sri Devi, 30, who was found burnt in her house at Medipally, has revealed that her friend Prasad did not help her while she was engulfed in flames. This raised suspicion if he was responsible for her death.
Prasad, also a private school teacher, was detained by the police after the victim’s neighbours found him trying to escape from the house. Sridevi and Prasad were planning to start a school.
Prasad reportedly gave some money to Sridevi in this regard. Differences arose between the two as Prasad believed that she used that money for some personal work. On Tuesday, Prasad went to her house apparently to settle the financial dispute. Sri Devi’s husband went out at that time on some work. A little later, her body was found in the house. Later, during interrogation by police he said that Sridevi doused herself with kerosene and set herself ablaze. “Prasad did not try to put out the fire nor did he call the neighbours for help. Instead, he stood there while the woman got charred to death. We are still probing to ascertain the facts , said Malkajgiri DCP R Rama Rajeshwari.
