Electricity engineers under the aegis of Telangana State Power Engineers' Association staged a protest demonstration in Vidyut Soudha here on Monday demanding early bifurcation of employees between the power utilities of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

During the protest, the members of TSPEA criticised the “adamant behaviour” of the relieved AP-origin employees and the attitude of the AP power utilities against bifurcation of the employees and absorbing the relieved employees.

In a memorandum submitted to Chairman and Managing Director of TS-Genco and TS-Transco, the association stated that bifurcation of the employees between the power utilities of the two States should have been completed within one year of bifurcation of combined AP. However, the utilities of AP were not forthcoming to complete the bifurcation of employees.

Secretary general of the association P. Rathnakar Rao said on approaching the Supreme Court by the AP-native employees, the apex court had directed the High Court to settle the issue within eight weeks. The relieved employees are creating hurdles in the promotions of engineers in Telangana utilities by approaching courts even as the State Government had sanctioned 13,357 new posts for the purpose.

Mr. Rao demanded that the relieved employees should not be given any regular postings and promotions by Telangana utilities and all legal measures be taken to settle the matter at the earliest.
