Power cuts revived in city

April 23, 2014 11:03 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 01:01 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Many localities in the city experienced haphazard power cuts on Wednesday, purportedly due to emergency load reliefs imposed by the APTransco.

Complaints of unscheduled outages were received from areas such as Begumpet, Sainikpuri, Secunderabad, Padmaraonagar and other areas, even while the scheduled power cuts which have been stopped recently were revived from Thursday onwards.

Consumers from Sainikpuri complained about a blackout of two hours in the night, while those from Padmaraonagar said a three-hour cut was imposed in the morning hours.

Officials from the APCPDCL informed that there was a shortage of 1,000 MW due to tripping of some generating stations, necessitating the emergency load reliefs. The power cuts were enforced on selective EHT substations by the State Load Dispatch Centre of APTransco, without any schedule, they alleged.
