Postal stamp to mark birth anniversary of scientist K.V. Rao

Prime property worth crores has been donated by the family of eminent scientist K.V. Rao for the benefit of society. One of the trustees of K.V. Rao Scientific Society, Anil Kumar K., said that the house, admeasuring 4,000 sq. ft, was located in Jubilee Hills and was worth Rs. 2 crore.

The house will be used as a Science Laboratory during the day and Hobby Centre at night for the benefit of underprivileged children.

This announcement was made at a recent event where the Postal Department, A.P Circle, issued a special cover, stamp and brochure on scientist Mr. Rao. The cover was released by M. Eleesha, Postmaster General, A.P. Circle, at a function held in the B.M. Birla Science Centre on Saturday. The special gesture marked the establishment of 15 years of Dr. K.V. Rao Scientific Society and the 95th birth anniversary of the scientist. Mr. Rao worked with the Geological Survey of India (GSI) and was associated with Birla Archaeological and Cultural Research Institute post retirement. M. Eleesha, Postmaster General, informed that the special cover, brochure on Dr. K.V. Rao as well as on the society would be available for sale in all post offices across the country from Monday.

G.M.N. Sastry, Deputy Director General of GSI, said that Mr. Rao was a distinguished scientist who many emulate.
