Festive fervour marked Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, on Sunday. Processions and service oriented activities were witnessed across the city on the occasion.
Blood donation camps and religious meetings were organised at various places in the city.
At the State Central Library, Afzalgunj, a blood donation camp was organised by Forum for Cultural Up-gradation and Social Services (Focus) and Tanzeem Irshadul Muslimeen (TIM). Similar camps were also organised at Charminar, Secunderabad and other places in the city. Poor feeding camps were also organised on the occasion.
Thousands of people visited the historic Mecca Masjid where holy relics of Prophet Mohammed were kept on display. Religious meetings were also held at different mosques in the city.
Massive processionTo mark the occasion a massive procession was taken out by Sunni United Forum of India in the Old City. Around two lakh people participated in it. The procession passed through Falaknuma, Aliabad, Shahalibanda, Charminar, Pathergatti and Darulshifa before culminating at Moghalpura.
En-route, local associations welcomed the procession and distributed confectionaries and water sachets to the participants. Smaller processions were also taken out at Musheerabad, Borabanda, Shamshabad, Golconda and Amberpet.
The police made elaborate security arrangements on the occasion. Senior police officials closely monitored the procession in view of terror alert to the city.
