Action will be initiated against TDP MLA Mr. Sita Dayakar Reddy on the basis of dying declaration made by agricultural officer Rajeshwari, State police chief said on Tuesday.

Ms. Rajeshwari allegedly committed suicide on Sunday, by immolating herself following the “unbearable pressure” from Mr. Reddy, the MLA from Mahbubnagar district, over distribution of relief to recent flood victims.

The law will take its own course of action in this case, and there will be no discrimination between important and non-important person, the Director General of Police Mr. R.R. Girish Kumar said, addressing a press conference.

Mr. Kumar admitted that due to lack of police personnel, the work load on the existing force is hampering the functioning of the department.

He said that the department is recruiting about 12,000 men in the force immediately, out of which 1,000 will be posted in the twin cities, while 30,000 to 40,000 police personnel will be inducted over the period of three to four years.

When asked about the fate of the kidnapped Andhra engineer, Mr. Kumar said, the State police is in touch with their Assam counterpart over the safe release of Mr. P Krishna Rao.

Mr. Krishna Rao, Project Manager of Gayatri PCI (JB) Company was kidnapped in Assam on October 16.
