After social issues like child labour problem, private financers collecting exorbitant interest and fake babas, the south zone police now plan to focus on the youngsters of old city by organising career guidance workshops and job melas.
“Our make efforts is to make this part of the city not only a crime-free area but also help the youth get better job opportunities,” said DCP (South) V. Satyanarayana, adding: Youth here, including girls, are highly skilled, yet they are finding it difficult to get jobs.
The police have held talks with a few companies and the proposed job melas dates are to be announced soon. The programme is to be done in coordination with various government departments and political parties.
The police also plan to conduct career guidance workshops for the benefit of students by roping in career guidance experts, the official explained.
On the policing front, the DCP has plans to invoke Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act against 20 ‘notorious’ private financers.
“We have already prepared their list. Moreover, we are also enquiring reports of financers forcibly taking away properties, including houses, after people failed to repay,” he explained.
Mr. Satyanaryana said suspect sheets were opened against qazis involved in marrying off minor girls to foreign nationals. Besides, a strict vigil is being maintained on the brokers with some of them detained under the Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act.
