April 20, 2018 12:00 am | Updated 05:09 pm IST - ADILABAD

The Adilabad district police has imposed prohibitory orders in Indervelli mandal headquarters village in view of the 37th anniversary of the infamous Indervelli police firing on Friday.

The police has warned Adivasis, who visit the martyrs’ column, located just outside the village, to pay homage to the martyrs, not to come in rallies or processions to the place.

In view of maintaining peace at any cost, about 700 policemen, under the command of Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier, are being deployed all along the routes which lead to the martyrs’ column. Additional police forces have been drawn from neighbouring districts for the purpose. Check posts have been set up at Gudihatnoor on the west side and Jainoor, Narnoor, Hasnapur and Utnoor on the east side for checking vehicles passing through Indervelli. Police will also patrol villages which lie scattered on these routes.
