Pola celebrated with gusto

August 22, 2017 12:45 am | Updated 12:47 am IST - ADILABAD

The festival of thanksgiving to farm animals, Pola, was celebrated with extra gusto in Adilabad district on Monday.

Thanks to the prospects of a good harvest in the season ahead due to the favourable monsoon rains so far this year, the celebrations are widespread.

Good rains have raised expectations of a bumper harvest within the farming community.

Farmers in the four districts carved out of undivided Adilabad, washed and decorated their bullocks before taking them out for circumambulation of Hanuman temples in their villages.

The animals were fed with naivedyam (feed that is of liking to the animals) as a measure of thanksgiving during the celebrations.
