Hyderabad turns pink

The only other colour that was dominant was the khaki of the police, as a heavy security screen was in place all around.

The entire area surrounding the Lal Bahadur Stadium was awash with pink, as flags of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and other related posters, greeting the party’s Founder President, K. Chandrasekhar Rao on his re-election as party chief. These flags occupied all available space, marking the party’s first plenary after its coming to power in Telangana.

The only other colour that was dominant was the khaki of the police, as a heavy security screen was in place all around. The area was virtually sealed off and all but the movement of authorised vehicles carrying party leaders with special passes was prohibited. As traffic was diverted since 10 a.m. by the police who wanted to ensure that things went on in an orderly manner, it inconvenienced the public.

Fireworks marked completion of Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao's 50 minute-long address and the sounds of crackers could be heard for almost 20 minutes by people in neighbouring areas too. And as it marked the end of the plenary’s inaugural, people made a beeline to the dining halls set up in the Nizam College Grounds, across the road.
