While Mastan would operate on RTC buses in Koti, his younger brother and accused Baba picked pockets in Narayanguda
A 22-year-old alleged pickpocket, was murdered by his brother – himself a pick-pocket – for ‘poaching’ into the latter’s area of operation.
The incident took place at Ashoknagar under Chikkadpally police station limits on Sunday midnight. The brothers hailed from Ziaguda.
The victim, Mastan, was asleep in an under-construction building when his younger brother Baba, and the latter’s accomplice Upender, smashed his head with a boulder, killing him. An hour later, a police patrol vehicle noticed Upender in suspicious circumstances at Ashoknagar and detained him. After being grilled, he confessed to having committed the murder at Baba’s behest.
Based on this information, police reportedly detained Baba on Monday. He allegedly informed police that while he used to steal wallets in RTC buses at Koti, Mastan would strike at Narayanguda and surrounding areas. However, for the past few days, Mastan had been trying ‘intrude’ into Baba’s ‘territory’. This led to a rift between the brothers, and a subsequent quarrel over the stolen property.
“We will try to collect more details from the accused on their involvement in pick-pocketing cases reported in the twin cities,” a police official said.
